With Time Travelling becoming a major theme in local pop culture with several shows exploring it, ranging from the new hit TV series from Germany called ‘Dark’ to the somewhat older ‘Heroes’ TV show, people’s interest in time travel has spiked and there is a lot of buzz and discussion about how time travel could work. The push from the scientific community to make science more accessible to the public through easy-to-understand books like Stephen Hawking’s ‘A Brief History of Time’ to the recent ‘Interstellar’ movie, has made the general public much more familiar with time travel concepts and it’s common to find layman and people with no training in science discussing concepts like wormholes and quantum science.
Given the great level of interest that surrounds the subject, it was quite obvious that when a person would show up claiming to be from the future and bringing proof in the form of a photograph with him, the news spread like wildfire. The public perceptions were already fertile ground for any time travel news and break through given our exposure to time travel in the media. People immediately set out to investigate the traveler from the future’s claims and see if there was any validity to them and what news he bought from the far future.
How did he travel back to our present?
The man in question claims to be from the year 6000 and brings with him 1 photo as evidence. In the clip that went viral online, he displays the photo to the audience and claims that he was sent back in time as “part of a top-secret program to send people back in time.” He comes bearing several warning for the human race and what it’s future will be. The man’s face is blurred to protect his identity, possibly from the governments that would like to investigate his claims.
The man then lays out the future course of society over the next 4000 years. The photo shown by the name is that of a city in the far future which he refuses to name due to the possibility of naming the city changing the future course of world events. The photo is blurry in the video because the man claims that time travel warps and reshapes images resulting in blurrier photographs. “You may notice that the picture is distorted, that’s due to the time-travel process,” He says. “Some people actually have parts of their bodies distorted because of the process.”
The technology of the future
When pressed for details about time travel itself, the man says that it’s possible for people to distort their entire bodies when time traveling. So it’s quite possible to actually lose a few limbs during time travel!
The man then goes on to talk about secret government experiments that are taking place which he feels the general public should know about in the name of transparency and fairness and to protect ourselves from the dark future that will unfold soon. Could the man in question be trying to alter or avoid the bad events that happen in the future? Could he be trying to change the past itself with his actions?
He talks about the massive advancements that will take place in technology that will lead to the curing of several incurable diseases today including cancer. In his own words, “I’ve seen the way the world’s changed, the technology that has emerged … it would blow your mind. The world has changed so much”.
Hoping for the best
I guess we will all have to take the good with the bad and acknowledge that the far future contains bad things which he warns of in the video and good things like more cures for diseases as well. The one thing we know for sure is, is that if what this man says is true, then the year 6000 is when mankind will master the ability to traverse through time itself and view events from the past personally, at their leisure.
